DESCRIPTION
The Dayspring House is an 18-unit transitional housing facility for mothers overcoming substance abuse disorders, and their children. The program serves 18 women and up to 46 children. Dayspring House opened in 2001.
Located just north of the Johns Hopkins Hospital, Dayspring House residents participate in a drug rehabilitation program and the Johns Hopkins Hospital Comprehensive Women’s Center. Additionally, there are an array of support services coordinated by Dayspring Community Programs. Services support the recovery of the mothers as well as the healthy development of their children, including an on-site Head Start program.
Funding sources for the construction project included Maryland’s RHPP, Baltimore City HOME funds, HUD Supportive Housing funds, Baltimore City HOPWA funds, The Abell Foundation, and The France-Merrick Foundation.
