Episcopal Housing acquired Ashburton Apartments in September 2012. At the time of acquisition, the Fannie Mae foreclosed property had been partially renovated but was still very distressed. Originally built in 1963, Ashburton was in need of updating throughout. EHC modernized the plumbing and electrical systems and added a sprinkler system and other fire control equipment. EHC equipped each unit with a new, energy efficient HVAC system and new appliances. Also, during the renovation, a small administrative office and a laundry facility were added to the rear of the building.
At the time of purchase, Ashburton Apartments was home to several families that had resided there for more than a decade. Most of those families remain residents to this day. This $2,000,000 project was completed in 2014 and once again provides safe, decent housing in the Forest Park neighborhood of Northwest Baltimore.
